Shelton State Community College Collects Donations for Disaster Relief

February 9, 2022 – In conjunction with the previously announced Black History Month event, “Songs of Unity,” Shelton State Community College’s Collegiate 100 and Student Engagement will collect donations for those affected by recent weather events in Sawyerville, Alabama.

Families affected by the January storms included Shelton State students.  “When our Collegiate 100 sponsor and students realized that some of our own were in need of assistance, this was immediately organized,” stated NorQuina Rieves, the College’s Student Engagement Coordinator.

Donation collection is currently underway in the Atrium of the College’s Martin Campus and will conclude with the Songs of Unity concert on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. The public is encouraged to drop donation items in the Atrium or bring donation items to the concert. Needed items include water, non-perishable food items, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, lotion, toilet paper, and deodorant.
