Shelton State Community College Coaches Selected for Inaugural Symposium

NJCAA & TopConnect

October 1, 2020 – Shelton State Community College’s (SSCC) basketball coaches, Joe Eatmon and Madonna Thompson, have been selected to attend the inaugural TopConnect NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) Virtual Symposium. The initial event is set for October 8-9.

TopConnect creates a truly unique opportunity for the selected class of attendees to interact with current head coaches, up and coming associate athletic directors, as well as established athletic directors in an interactive, career elevating experience.

“Being selected for TopConnect is a great honor and a tremendous opportunity,” stated Joe Eatmon, the College’s Men’s Basketball Coach. “The group of coaches selected are considered some of the top NJCAA coaches in the country, and it’s truly an honor to be included in such an outstanding group for such a prestigious event. Having the opportunity to learn from NCAA Division 1 coaches and athletic directors will help me grow as a coach and person and will help me better serve my SSCC family.”

TopConnect (formerly Villa 7) originated in 2003 by then VCU Athletic Director Dr. Richard Sander, identifies the top basketball assistant coaches in the country, and connects them with mid-major Athletic Directors providing tremendous networking opportunities for both parties. Following the recent success of TopConnect Basketball 2020, Dr. Christopher Parker, NJCAA President & CEO, and Dr. Richard Sander began to develop a program for the head men’s and women’s basketball coaches of the NJCAA.
