Shelton State Community College Campus Veterans Association to Honor Alabama Veterans

September 14, 2022 – Shelton State Community College’s Campus Veterans Association will honor the 152 Alabama veterans who lost their lives to suicide in 2020.

This special time of remembrance called Operation: We Remember will be held simultaneously at the College’s Fredd and Martin Campuses on Tuesday, September 20 from 11:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.  Those who wish to participate are asked to gather near the flagpole at either campus during the allotted time. The public is invited to attend.

“It is important to acknowledge our veterans who have coped with mental anguish and suffering,” said Eric Prewitt, SSCC’s Campus Veterans Association sponsor. “Statistics continually indicate the ongoing levels of trauma experienced by our American veterans, and we feel it is important to bring attention to the ongoing sacrifices of these courageous men and women.”
