Shelton State Community College Athletics Announce Addition of Flag Football for Women

March 13, 2025 – Shelton State Community College (SSCC) will expand its athletic programs with the addition of women’s flag football beginning in fall 2025 for the 2025-2026 academic year.

This announcement comes after the Alabama Community College Conference’s (ACCC) decision to add the sport to its conference lineup, making history as the largest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) state athletic member conference to offer the sport.

Women’s flag football has exploded in popularity in recent years and will provide a pathway for female athletes to continue competing after high school. Tryouts for Shelton State’s team will be on Saturday, April 19 and Saturday, May 3.
