Shelton State Community College Announces Spring 2023 Graduates and Honors

June 13, 2023 – Commencement exercises for Shelton State Community College were held on Thursday, May 4 and Friday, May 5 at the Martin Campus.  President Chris Cox presided over each event.   During graduation, 374 students were acknowledged for completion of short-term certificates, certificates, associate in applied science degrees, and associate in arts/science degrees.

The College’s Honors Convocation was held on Sunday, April 30 to celebrate the accomplishments of Shelton State students.  Four major College awards were given at Honors Convocation to the following students:

H.I. James Outstanding Technical Student Award –

I.W. Mitchell Outstanding Technical Student Award –

Norman C. Cephus Special Achievement Award –

Thomas E. Umphrey Outstanding Freshman Award –

Leo Sumner Outstanding Sophomore Award –

In addition to College awards, students receiving transfer and Shelton State Foundation scholarships were recognized.  The Shelton State Foundation awarded XXX scholarships totaling $0.00 in value.  Thirteen four-year colleges were represented in the awarding of transfer scholarships to XX students with $0.0 in scholarship funds from The University of Alabama alone.  XX of the students awarded transfer scholarships were members of the College’s honor organization, Phi Theta Kappa.

The graduating students listed below completed the requirements for certificates or degrees at the conclusion of the spring 2023 semester.
