Shelton State Community College Announces Spring 2021 Graduates and Honors

June 1, 2021 – Commencement exercises for Shelton State Community College were held on Thursday, May 6 and Friday, May 7 at the Martin Campus. President Brad Newman presided over each event marking his first commencement ceremonies at the College. During the graduation ceremonies, more than 200 students were acknowledged for completion of short-term certificates, certificates, associate in applied science degrees, and associate in arts/science degrees.

 

While Honors Convocation was not held as an event, the accomplishments of Shelton State students were celebrated, and College award recipients were named. Five major College awards were given to the following students:

 

H.I. James Outstanding Technical Student Award – Sara Slough

I.W. Mitchell Outstanding Technical Student Award – Sara Slough

Norman C. Cephus Special Achievement Award – KeShawandra David

Thomas E. Umphrey Outstanding Freshman Award – Wesley Junkins

Leo Sumner Outstanding Sophomore Award – Maci Morrow

 

In addition to College awards, students receiving transfer and Shelton State Foundation scholarships were recognized. The Shelton State Foundation awarded 92 scholarships totaling $142,150.00. Twenty-two four-year colleges were represented in the awarding of transfer scholarships.

 

The graduating students listed below completed the requirements for certificates or degrees at the conclusion of the spring 2021 semester. All student hometowns are in the state of Alabama unless otherwise indicated.
