Shelton State Community College Announces New Information and Options for Students

April 3, 2020 – In conjunction with the Alabama Community College System, Shelton State Community College is responding to the COVID-19/Coronavirus climate with updated schedule information and new course options for current and future students.

 

Commencement exercises previously scheduled for the spring are postponed or canceled. Postponed spring commencement exercises include Spring 2020 Graduation, Spring 2020 GED Graduation, and Spring 2020 Nursing Pinning. Spring 2020 graduates will be honored at the College’s summer commencement exercises currently scheduled for Friday, August 7. GED graduates will be honored at a graduation ceremony rescheduled for Thursday, August 6. The College’s Nursing Pinning will be rescheduled, however, that date has not yet been determined.

 

The College’s 2020 Honors Convocation is canceled. Honorees will be notified of their award(s) via their myShelton email.

 

The opening date for registration for summer classes is April 17, 2020, with classes beginning on May 26, 2020. Information concerning fall registration will be released in the coming weeks.

 

In addition to the traditional summer and fall class schedules, the College will offer Maymester, an online, two-week mini-term May 6, 2020 – May 22, 2020. Registration for Maymester will coincide with the opening of registration for summer classes on April 17, 2020. Space for Maymester is limited, and interested students are encouraged to register early.
