September 7, 2023 – Shelton State Community College (SSCC) and The University of Alabama (UA) are partnering to create a seamless pathway for SSCC students to transfer to UA. The institutions’ leaders will sign an articulation agreement during a ceremony on Monday, September 11, at 11:00 a.m. at Shelton State’s Martin Campus (9500 Old Greensboro Road, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35405).

This agreement allows UA and Shelton State to have a clearly defined transfer process and enhanced communication with students regarding transfer from the College to the University. The agreement includes scholarship opportunities, academic advising, career coaching, and counseling.

“Partnering with The University of Alabama provides Shelton State students more opportunities to continue their educations here in Tuscaloosa,” said SSCC President Dr. Chris Cox. “We hope this agreement further strengthens our relationship with UA and encourages our students to continue pursuing higher education.”

Through the agreement, students at Shelton State with a minimum 2.0 grade point average (GPA) and 24 transferable credit hours are guaranteed a seamless transfer process to UA.

Both institutions will provide designated admissions counselors to identify eligible students, facilitate a smooth transfer to UA and maximize students’ transferable coursework. Academic scholarships are also available from UA to any eligible student transferring from Shelton State.
