SSCC to Recognize Bibb Medical Center Apprenticeship Cohort

January 12, 2026 – Shelton State Community College (SSCC) will welcome three new student apprentices at a special signing event on January 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Bibb Medical Wellness Center (BMC) in Centreville, Alabama. (285 Hospital Drive) Members of the media are invited to attend.

 

The program is for currently enrolled nursing students at Shelton State’s Bibb Campus. The apprenticeship program requires on-the-job learning, nursing coursework, labs, and simulations. Apprentices are paid while on the job and performing clinical hours.

 

“This signing event highlights three new apprenticeships and the success of our collaboration with BMC,” said SSCC President Jonathan Koh. “These opportunities represent our shared commitment to rural healthcare, career pathways, and student success.”

 

Since 2022, Shelton State and BMC have partnered to offer a practical nursing program at Bibb Medical Center. The program is designed to increase the number of skilled nurses in West Alabama.
