Theatre Tuscaloosa

January 28, 2021 – Theatre Tuscaloosa will continue its 2020-21 Spreading Joy Season with a series of virtual presentations including new episodes of its Masterclass Monday series, a presentation from its archives, and a live virtual show.

Theatre Tuscaloosa’s Masterclass Monday series continues this spring with episodes from writer and performer Deb Hiett, veteran actors Drew Baker and Gary Wise, longtime musical director Leslie Poss, and many more. Masterclass Monday is an opportunity for Theatre Tuscaloosa alumni and associated artists to come together and share their experience and expertise with the greater community. Past episodes can be found at www.youtube.com/theatretusc.

In May, two full shows will be presented online. Theatre Tuscaloosa will present a live production of Motherhood Out Loud, directed by Dianna Brown Shaw, in celebration of Mother’s Day, May 7-9. This funny, poignant show features a series of vignettes from mothers of all backgrounds telling stories of their children from pregnancy to adulthood. Motherhood Out Loud will be performed and streamed live on ShowTix4U, and tickets will be $5 per device.

Theatre Tuscaloosa’s 2012 production of The Sweet Delilah Swim Club (formerly The Dixie Swim Club) will be presented on ShowTix4U and will begin with a live premiere event on May 21. It will then be available to stream on-demand May 22-28. This hilarious and touching comedy is about five Southern women who set aside a weekend every August to unwind and catch up throughout their lives. The cast includes Louise Manos, Jenny Ryan, Dianna Brown Shaw, Tina Turley, and Lauren Wilson. Tickets will be $8 per device.

Theatre Tuscaloosa also hosts Script Club where, much like book clubs, our community gathers together to read a selected play and discuss its themes, characters, and potential as a production. To sign up to join a Script Club reading, visit the “Workshops” tab under “Get Involved” on the Theatre Tuscaloosa website.
