Shelton State Visual Arts to Present 2024 Spring Student Art Show

Spring 2024 Student Art Show

April 10, 2024 – Shelton State Community College’s Visual Arts Department will open its spring 2024 Student Art Show on Monday, April 15, 2024, in the Martin Campus Cadence Bank Art Gallery.  The exhibition will be open until Friday, May 3 and is free and open to the public.

“We are so excited for our students to showcase the culmination of their semester-long journey in the Student Art Show,” stated Carson Grubaugh, award winning artist and SSCC visual arts instructor. “This is an opportunity to empower our students and for the community to celebrate all their hard work and dedication.”

Part of Shelton State’s designation as the Community College of the Fine Arts for the state of Alabama, the visual arts department focuses on instruction in art techniques and processes engaging students in creative thinking, self-exploration, and critical evaluation.  Courses are designed to provide students with a strong foundation in studio arts and art history.  The art program offers experience for students pursuing transfer to a four-year college program, art careers, and/or personal enrichment.

The Cadence Bank Art Gallery, located on the Martin Campus, showcases a changing series of exhibitions of local, regional, and national artists. The Gallery is open during the College’s regular business hours.
