The mission of Dance at Shelton is to cultivate and foster artistic growth within every individual. We uplift and amplify students’ voices through dance to further nourish their self-confidence, agency, and identity. Through our curriculum, students are guided towards a worldly awareness of dance being a catalyst for positive change in our communities. The knowledge and training students gain in this program guarantee the development of a well-rounded dancer, choreographer, teacher, and performing artist.
We uphold ethical, sustainable, and progressive practices that are grounded in anti-oppressive pedagogies. Dance at Shelton intentionally works with and for the community in a manner that advocates for a diverse, equitable, and inclusive arts education. Utilizing a range of student-centered approaches, we aim to forge cultural relevance and arts advocacy that centers Dance in global discourse.
