Shelton State Community College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award the Associate degree. Shelton State Community College also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. Program Accreditations

The Shelton State Associate Degree and Practical Nursing Programs are approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing (ABN), RSA Plaza, 770 Washington Avenue, Suite 250, Montgomery, AL 36104, telephone 334.293.5200. The programs are located on the Martin Campus, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and are also accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), 3390 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 1400 Atlanta, GA, 30326. 404.975.5000. The most recent accreditation decision made by the ACEN Board of Commissioners for the associate degree nursing program is Continued Accreditation. The Shelton State Health Information Technology Program has received Initial Accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).  CAHIIM is located at 233 N. Michigan Ave, 21st Floor, Chicago, IL 60601-5800, 312.233.1134.

 

The Shelton State Respiratory Therapy Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) (www.coarc.com). The program has been placed on Probationary Accreditation as of November 3, 2023. Students graduating under the Probationary Accreditation status are considered graduates of CoARC accredited program. Additionally, successful completion of the program under Probationary Accreditation enables the student to become a CRT after completing the National Board for Respiratory Care exams.
