West Alabama community leaders and local business and industry partners joined the Shelton State Community College Foundation for its annual Student Investment Luncheon on November 13, 2019. Generous donors contributed to funds for tuitions, fees, and books for deserving Shelton State students.

West Alabama community leaders and local business and industry partners joined the Shelton State Community College FAs part of the statewide “Clean Home Alabama” project, SSCC students, faculty, and staff began their participation in the Adopt-a-Mile program. Showcasing a commitment to serve their community, participants celebrated the state’s bicentennial year through their efforts.

The SSCC Association of Nursing Students hosted their third annual Diabetes Walk on World Diabetes Day, November 14, 2019. Held on the Martin Campus, the walk raised both disease awareness and money for the Tuscaloosa Good Samaritan Clinic. The walk raised more than $600.

In cooperation with the Shelton State Foundation, the College partnered with Secret Meals to sponsor students serviced at Adopt-a-School partner, Englewood Elementary School. Donations were provided for twenty-two students and their families.

Supporting United Way of West Alabama organizations, the College’s annual holiday giving campaign, Here Comes Santa Claus, collected donations for eight local groups. Sponsored by the Shelton State Ambassadors, the project allowed faculty, staff, and students to share their holiday spirit.
