Which courses give the students the option to receive a grade of IP?
The IP grade is ONLY available in following computer based instruction (CBI) developmental courses:
MTH 098 (CBI sections only)
What is the IP grade?
The IP grade grants a student an additional semester to complete a course. A student who receives a grade of IP must enroll in the same course the following semester. The student will begin work at the point where he or she finished working the previous semester. Note: MTH 098 students must enroll in a CBI section.
What are the eligibility requirements for receiving a grade of IP?
The eligibility requirement for the grade of IP will vary by course and will be posted on the department websites.
What grade does a student receive once the course is completed?
The grade of IP will remain on the transcript, and a grade of S or U is recorded for the semester the IP was completed.
What happens if a student receives a grade of IP, but does not register for the course the next semester?
The grade of IP is administratively changed to a U.
What happens if a student receives a grade of IP, but withdraws during the next semester?
The grade of IP is administratively changed to a U; the grade of W remains on the transcript.
What should a student do if he or she wishes to receive a grade of IP?
A student who does not feel he or she will successfully complete a course by the end of the semester should speak to his or her instructor to determine if the student is eligible to receive the grade of IP.
What are the financial implications of receiving a grade of IP?
A student who receives a grade of IP and subsequently registers for the course the next semester is required to pay for the course. If the student receives Federal Financial Aid, financial aid funds may be applied subject to regular guidelines.
