eLearning Classes

Shelton State Community College offers classes that can be accessed anywhere, anytime via the Internet. The times and places for interaction are usually asynchronous (this generally means that location-based activities, like class meetings, are not required). ELearning courses make significant use of Web technology and applications to support teaching and learning. This may include e-mail, chat rooms, bulletin boards, on-line conferencing, digital libraries, and databases.
Each eLearning class makes use of a required “on-campus” Orientation session. The date and time is published in the schedule of classes. Also, many instructors have “on-site” testing. However, if this is not possible, a proctor may be utilized.
ELearning classes apply the same strict standards for instruction and grading as utilized in a traditional on-campus class. Students register for eLearning classes during regular registration, have access to the same student services, receive the same credit, and study under the same regulations as all other students.
