Fine Art Performing Scholarships are available for talented students interested in the Arts at Shelton State Community College. Scholarships are available for students in areas of study of art, dance, music, and theatre.
Applications are on the college web page under Financial Aid with a deadline of March 2. A secondary deadline of May 18, 2012 has been set for 2012-2013.
A second round of 2012-2013 scholarship auditions will be held June 4, 2012.
Requirements:
All auditions consist of a performance and personal interview.
Art:
Applicants should bring a portfolio of eight to ten pieces of work or slides of work.
Dance:
Dancers will take a short audition dance class and should come prepared to
perform a solo of any dance style (approximately 2-3 minutes).
Music:
Instrumentalists should be prepared to play two pieces in contrasting tempo and style to sight read. Pianists should play from memory.
Vocalist should sing two songs from memory in contrasting tempo and style. Vocalists may bring an accompanist, use the accompanist provided by the college or bring a tape/CD accompaniment.
Theatre:
Actors should bring a prepared monologue 60-90 seconds in length. Designers and technical theatre applicants should bring a design.
