What types of jobs are considered Support Staff?

Support Staff positions may include clerical, secretarial, receptionist, technician, manager, accountant, cashier, operator, crew chief, specialist, supervisor, analyst, programmer, mechanic, worker (maintenance or housekeeping), graphic artist, coach, purchasing agent, interpreter, or nurse (clinical).

How are Support Staff positions posted?


All full-time and part-time Support Staff positions will be posted for 14 days.  Vacancy notices will be posted on the jobs board on the Martin and Fredd Campuses and on the College's web site.  Additionally, full-time Support Staff positions that have "administrative and supervisory" responsibilities will be posted in accordance with the Alabama College System Uniform Guidelines. 

How do I apply for a Support Staff position?

Applications, resumes, and other required application materials will only be accepted for posted positions. Candidates should submit an application, current resume, and any other required application materials (see vacancy notice for details) to the Office of Human Resources. Applications are available on the College’s web site at www.sheltonstate.edu. From the homepage click on the “About SSCC” then the "Office of Human Resources" link. Then select the "Employment Application" version (Word or PDF format).  The Word format application may be filled out on the computer.

Do any Support Staff positions require a degree or certificate?

Yes. Some Support Staff positions do require an Associates or Bachelor’s degree or a certificate. For example: An Accountant would normally require a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Other support staff positions do not require a degree or certificate.  Please refer to qualifications on Vacancy Notice for degree or certificate requirements.

Are Support Staff positions posted on the College’s web site?

Vacant positions are posted to the web site and the jobs board on the Martin and Fredd campuses.  The College's jobs boards are located on the first floor, in the hallway adjacent to the mailroom, on the Martin Campus and in the main administration building, in the hallway adjacent to the front office, on the C. A. Fredd Campus.  We invite and encourage job seekers to check these job boards and our web site on a regular basis for available positions.
