The Process of General Education Assessment at Shelton State

Each of the following learning outcomes associated with general education has been retained with the understanding they will be systematically re-evaluated when data is collected and analyzed.  Data is collected from both face-to-face courses and e-Learning courses.  The general education outcomes, which are listed in the college catalog include:

  • Written Communication Skills:  Students will develop and demonstrate written skills needed to communicate effectively.
  • Oral Communication Skills:  Students will develop and demonstrate oral skills needed to communicate effectively.
  • Critical Thinking Skills:  Students will develop and use critical, analytical thinking abilities needed in decision making and creative processes.
  • Computer Skills:  Students will develop and demonstrate the effective use of common software applications. 
  • Mathematical Skills:  Students will develop and demonstrate the effective use of analytical mathematical skills.
