The PLANTS Database is a single source of standardized information about plants. This database focuses on vascular plants, mosses, liverworts, hornworts, and lichens of the U.S. and its territories. This database includes names, checklists, automated tools, identification information, species abstracts, distributional data, crop information, plant symbols, plant growth data, plant materials information, plant links, references, and other plant information.
Plants of Horticulture
A searchable database of 3,878 high quality images and horticultural descriptions for hundreds of unique species and cultivars.
Species 2000
Species 2000 has the objective of enumerating all known species of plants, animals, fungi and microbes
on Earth as the baseline dataset for studies of global biodiversity. It will also provide a simple access
point enabling users to link from here to other data systems for all groups of organisms, using direct
species-links. Users worldwide will be able to verify the scientific name, status and classification of any known species via the Species Locator, which provides access to species checklist data drawn from an array of participating databases. A Species Locator search provides scientific name, plant characteristics, and distribution.
University of Delaware Botanical Garden
List of major landscape trees for the Eastern U.S. with full information and color photos for each. Includes a self-pronouncing botanical name using Java software. Also lists shrubs, conifers, small flowering trees, and broadleaved evergreens.
