Shelton State Community College is pleased to offer Workeys job profiling, assessment, and training through its WorkKeys Service Center located in the College’s new Center for Workforce Development. WorkKeys is a national workforce development system developed by ACT, and international leader in educational assessment for the past 40 years. It is used by employers nationwide to identify the skills employees need to be successful on the job and to determine where additional training can help develop a higher caliber workforce.
WorkKeys can allow employers to:
• Identify the key job skills and the levels of competency needed to meet job requirements.
• Assess the skills of applicants and the skill levels of current employees to pinpoint current skill levels.
• Compare the skill levels of applicants against the minimum job skill level requirements as well as determine any training needs of the current employees.
By using WorkKeys through Shelton State and the West Alabama Center for Workforce Development major industries are bridging the skill gaps between employment and the current worker applicant pool. Over 2000 individuals have been assessed using the WorkKeys system.

CAREER READINESS CERTIFICATE (CRC)
Getting a Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) allows you to show prospective (and current) employers that you possess the basic skills they are looking for. Even if you have a high school diploma, GED, or a post-secondary degree, the CRC further verifies that you can handle the kinds of tasks - finding information, reading instructions and directions, and working with figures - that are common in today's workplace.

There are 3 levels an individual may earn: bronze, silver and gold.
