Madonna Thompson is in her 16th year as Head Coach of the Shelton State Community College Lady Bucs. Her overall record is 388-114 (77%). Her Lady Bucs won the AJCCC Division II Conference Championship in both 2000 and 2002, and finished runner-up in 2003 and 2004. The 2000 team advanced to the NJCAA Final Four, finishing 4th in the nation. After restructuring the conference, the Lady Bucs went on to win the ACCC Division I Conference Championship in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013 and finished runner-up in 2005. This past year, Coach Thompson not only led the Lady Buccaneers to the conference championship, but also to their first ever undefeated regular season, a #4 ranking in the NJCAA poll, and an Elite 8 finish at the national tournament. Madonna Thompson is a native of Collinwood, Tennessee. Coach Thompson played for Coach Rick Moody at the University of Alabama from 1992-1995, and was a member of the 1994 team that went to the NCAA Final Four. Coach Thompson earned a Master’s of Science from the University in Speech-Language Pathology.
Chris Sanford is on his 13th season with the Lady Bucs with an impressive record of 334-74 (82%), eight championships (2002, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2013), and three runner-up finishes (2003, 2004, 2005). A native of Glencoe, Alabama, Chris graduated from the University of Alabama in 1999 with a B.A. in History. He worked at the University of Alabama Golf Center for 10 years serving as the Assistant Golf Professional. Chris is married to Christa Grizzle, Shelton State’s cheerleading coach.
