Barry Mohun - Coach
Barry Mohun enters his 12th season as the Head Coach of the Shelton State Buccaneers. His overall record at Shelton is 284-86 (.767). Under Mohun’s leadership, the Buccaneers have posted seven consecutive 20-win seasons, and claimed the state and regional championships in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2009. They also made National Tournament appearances in 2005, 2008, and 2009. Mohun has twice been the Alabama Community College Conference Coach of the Year, along with District 10 Coach of the Year for the National Junior College Athletic Association and 2009 Birmingham Tip Off Club Coach of the Year. Prior to Shelton, Mohun was head coach at Prattville High School, leading the Lions to a 6A Final Four AHSAA finish in his final year. Mohun has also served as head coach for Paxton High School in Florida, Saint James in Montgomery, and T.R. Miller of Brewton.
Mohun is a native of Montgomery where he played for the Sidney Lanier Poets. He played two years for Huntingdon College before finishing his career and earning All- Conference honors at Belhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi. Mohun holds a BS degree from Belhaven and a Masters degree from The University of Louisiana at Monroe, where he served as a graduate assistant coach for the Indians. Coach Mohun also serves as Shelton State’s Athletic Director. He is married to the former Susan Coker, Assistant Dean of Student Services at Shelton State.They have three children, April (14), Amanda (12), and Austin (11).
Timothy Law - Assistant Coach
Timothy Law is in his sixth season as assistant coach for the Buccaneers, however he is not a newcomer to the program. Law was a member of the Shelton State Basketball Team for the 1995-97 seasons under Coach Mark Cornelius. Coach Law still holds the Shelton school record as the All-Time Assist Leader. After graduating from Shelton State, Coach Law signed to play at Centennary College in Shreveport, Louisiana. While at Centennary, Law served as team captain and was named to the Trans America Athletic Conference All- Academic Team. Law earned his B.S. Degree in Health and Exercise Science in 2000. In addition to his duties as assistant coach, Coach Law serves as Athletic Programs Specialist for the College. He is a native of York and a graduate of Sumter County High School. He and his wife Jossette have three daughters, Tanisha (15), Arkadia (10), and Nyla (7), and one son, Timothy Junior -- TJ (3).
