A native of Western North Carolina, Laurel Walker began her dance study under the tutelage of Madame Marilyn Cloutier. Having obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alabama, majoring in dance performance and choreography and minoring in journalism, she furthered her studies at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where she earned a Masters of Fine Arts degree. As a member of the Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre, her performances include original works by Cornelius Carter, and Jose Limon's There Is A Time, staged by Clay Taliaferro. Additionally, Laurel was selected to present an original, senior solo entitled, Perceptions. While at Tisch, Laurel had the opportunity to perform in works by Deborah Jowitt and guest choreographer Kyle Abraham. Laurel has also choreographed two works, 20/20 Insight, and a collaborative work entitled, Efflorescence. Working as the production graduate assistant for Tisch dance, she had the opportunity to expand her resume to encompass the logistics of dance performance.
