Lifelong Learning - More Information

WHAT IS THE "LIFELONG LEARNING" CENTER?

The Lifelong Learning Center is academic program created especially for seniors, and is sponsored by Shelton State Community College. We organize and offer seniors lots of interesting short courses at a very reasonable cost. We keep our costs very low by being a non-profit, self-supporting program.

WHAT DOES OUR LIFELONG LEARNING PROGRAM OFFER YOU?

Every semester we offer dozens of short courses. Some are only a single session of a couple of hours. Other courses have several short sessions, for a total of about 10 or 12 hours of learning. The courses are taught by instructors with expertise in their subject. Courses include topics such as health, nutrition, arts and crafts, travel, use of computers, investing, starting a business, photography, gardening, budgeting for retirement, and so on. Classes meet at times convenient for you (usually during the daytime) at either the main Shelton State Martin campus or at the C.A. Fredd campus.

HOW CAN YOU JOIN US?

You may register for our courses by calling us at 391-2386 and we'll help you get signed up for the courses you like. Or, you can drop by our office, room 1912B, on the Shelton State Community College Martin campus on Old Greensboro Road. We accept checks, cash, or credit cards. You'll join other great seniors for interesting, stimulating learning experiences! It's a super bargain, and lots of fun!

WE INVITE YOU TO WORK WITH US

We welcome you to join other volunteers who share their expertise and teach our courses. Will you also volunteer to teach for us? We can help you (if you wish) organize to teach a course and share your knowledge. Won't you please join our Lifelong Learning community, as a student, or a teacher, or both? Give us a call at 391-2386.
