The Truck Driving Technology Program is an 8 week program that meets Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Courses are taught year round. The course of instruction is to prepare students for entry level positions in the industry as a tractor-trailer driver or straight truck driver. Students will receive classroom, range, and highway training for Class “A” (tractor-trailer) or Class “B” (straight truck) Commercial Driver’s License with air brake, tank, hazardous materials, and doubles/triples endorsements when applicable. Upon successfully passing the Commercial Driver’s License written exam and skills requirements, the student will receive his/her operator’s license from the Alabama Department of Public Safety and a certificate of completion from Shelton State Community College. Admission Requirements:
- Must have current Class “D” Drivers License with no serious driving violations.
- Must be 21 years of age or older for Tractor-Trailer Driver Training and 18 years of age or older for Straight Truck Driver Training
- DOT Driver’s Physical and Drug Screen Required.
- Current Moving Violations Report from the Department of Public Safety
