Buddy Boyle, Head Softball Coach

Buddy Boyle is in his sixth year as head coach of the Shelton State softball program. In 2012 the Lady Bucs finished 2nd in the ACCC NJCAA Region XXII Tournament and were ranked by the NJCAA during the year. The 2012 team set new records for wins and moved several players on to the next level.  Academically, the Lady Bucs were ranked #4 in the nation for team GPA by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and 8 of 16 players were NFCA Academic All-Americans.

The Lady Bucs softball program is now recognized as one of the best softball programs in the state of Alabama and players move on to quality four-year schools across the Southeast. Last year, Shelton State players achieved All-American, Academic All-American, NJCAA and NFCA All-Region, and All-Division awards.


Boyle is originally from Montgomery where he prepped at Robert E. Lee High School. He played college baseball first at Enterprise State Junior College where his team won the Southern Division Championship and was ranked as high as #8 in the nation. He finished his college career at Auburn University-Montgomery. During his two years at AUM the baseball team finished #2 and #5 in the nation.
 
Boyle has coached in minor league baseball. He coached the Montgomery Wings of the All-American Professional Baseball Association. As a coach for Montgomery, his duties included scouting, coaching outfielders and hitting, as well as overseeing the day-to-day operation of the organization.

Boyle was the head softball coach at Enterprise State Junior College from 1997-2000 and was an assistant at Wallace Community College-Dothan from 2002-2005. He also coached at Northview High School in 2006 and 2007. His teams have qualified for the playoffs each year and participated in the national tournament.  

During 15 years of coaching fastpitch softball, numerous players have achieved All-Division, All-Region, All-American, and Academic All-American honors. He has coached the ACCC Player of the Year twice, and many players have received scholarships from NAIA and NCAA softball programs across the nation. Boyle has a BS Degree in Education from Troy University and has been married to the former Alison Berry, a Montgomery native, for 18 years.
 

Lindsey Skinner, Assistant Softball Coach

Lindsey Skinner is in her 3rd year as assistant coach of the Shelton State softball program. In Coach Skinner’s two years at Shelton State the softball program has won more games than any other two- year period.  Coach Skinner’s duties include assisting in day to day operation of the program, outfield play, and hitting duties.  Another of her duties is the monitoring of academic performance for the Lady Bucs.  She also specializes in all phases of the speed and slapping portions of the offense.  She is known for the intensity and energy she brings to the Shelton State Softball program.


Lindsey Skinner prepped at South Forsyth High School in Cummings, Georgia.  After graduating she played her first two years of college softball at Shelton State.  During her two years as a Lady Buc, Lindsey helped resurrect a program that had fallen on hard times.  The 2008 team won 35 games and helped bring Shelton State back to relevance in the state. 

Skinner is still prominent in the Shelton State record books and holds the career record for batting average with a .433 lifetime mark.  She is also 2nd in career hits and 4th in career runs scored. She appears in the single season records for single season batting average (3rd), and single season hits (5th).  She was a two-time NJCAA Region XXII selection as well as ACCC All-Central Division both years.  After completing her two years at Shelton State, Skinner signed at the University of West Alabama where she was named to the All-Gulf South Conference team.
