The Chancellor of the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) has approved a uniform employment application for all Alabama College System institutions and for all positions including adjunct teaching positions.  This application was developed by the ACCS Human Resources Management Association (ACCS-HRMA) to standardize the employment application within the Alabama Community College System and to ensure that all legal requirements are met.

Evaluation of Foreign Educational Credentials 

Persons who hold foreign educational credentials and are interested in applying for either an advertised full-time teaching position or an adjunct (part-time) teaching position must request a course-by-course evaluation by the Foreign Education Credential Service of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO).  Evaluations should be sent to Shelton State Community College, Attn: Office of Human Resources, 9500 Old Greensboro Rd., Tuscaloosa, AL 35405.  The fee for the AACRAO evaluation must be paid by the applicant.  For more information, go to the AACRAO website at:

Minimum qualifications for academic disciplines are a Master`s Degree and 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching field. Technical diciplines require a Bachelor`s Degree, 27 credit hours in the teaching field, and three years of successful full-time experience in the technical field. Occupational disciplines require an Associates degree or equivalent (60 semester hours in a planned program), specialized coursework in the occupational field, and three years of successful full-time employment in the occupational field.
